Community Liaison Unit

Get extra non-legal support

The Community Liaison Unit helps people in the community access the legal services provided by Legal Aid ACT as well as other services in the ACT.

Our Liaison Officers can help you if you:

  • identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • identify as culturally or linguistically diverse
  • live with or experience any form of disability
  • are a young person
  • live with or experience any form of mental health illness
  • are experiencing or have experienced family violence
  • have used or are alleged to have used family violence

How we can help you

The Community Liaison Unit can help you by:

  • supporting you in Court, such as by making reasonable adjustments
  • helping you communicate with your lawyer and understand legal words
  • connecting you with non-legal supports and services, and speaking to other services for you
  • supporting you with safety planning
  • helping you plan next steps

  • FASS (Family Advocacy Support Service) Liaison Officers
