Working at Legal Aid ACT is an opportunity to do challenging and rewarding work and make a meaningful contribution to the circumstances of disadvantaged and vulnerable clients and communities in the ACT.

Legal Aid ACT is seeking applications for a range of positions within our Civil Justice Legal Practice (CJLP), including in NDIS, and in migration.

Lawyers undertake a range of advice, duty and ongoing representation work in various courts and tribunals across the civil litigation, human rights and community legal teams in areas including discrimination, human rights, migration, tenancy, employment, coronial, NDIS, mental health, elder abuse and guardianship.

Our migration lawyers provide advice and assistance primarily to refugees, and in relation to other humanitarian visas. We represent clients at the Department level, in the Administrative Review Tribunal, with Ministerial requests and at Judicial Review.

Applicants for positions as migration lawyers should have demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, immigration and citizenship law, and a keen interest in working with refugees and asylum seeker communities.

Don't wait - apply now!

These positions will be required to work at our office location, due to the in-person nature of our legal work.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to address the Civil Justice Legal Practice with the area of interest and include a statement of suitability against the selection criteria (max 2 pages) and a current CV.

Applicants must have Australian work rights.  Applicants will need to hold an ACT Practicing certificate. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check during the recruitment process, and an offer of employment is conditional on satisfactory results.
